There are no enduring relationships without forgiveness. This is true for all relationships. Since no one is perfect, all relationships are infected and affected by sin. Often sin is most clearly seen in the damage it causes when it hurts other people, whether intentional or unintentional. Sometimes sin is seen in our response when injured. Clearly, enduring and healthy relationships in marriage, with children, between siblings, and with friends all require forgiveness. And this is certainly true of relationships within a small group.
Pastor James offers this definition: “Forgiveness is the decision to release a person from the obligation that resulted when they injured you.”
