About Harvest Bible Chapel
Here is a brief history of Harvest Bible Chapel, Kuala Lumpur.
In the summer of 1988, Dr. James MacDonald and 18 Christ-followers from 5 different churches came together in Rolling Meadows, IL with a vision for planting a life-changing church that would blend the unapologetic preaching of God’s Word, passionate contemporary worship, powerful prayer and the bold sharing of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The first Harvest Bible Chapel launched in Rolling Meadows on September 18, 1988. Since then, it has grown to nearly 13,000 worshipers on six campuses. For more information, please visit the website of the first Harvest Bible Chapel.
Back at Kuala Lumpur in 2004, a group of believers gathered together in borrowed space at a local school. This church, The Bridge International, had a vision to create a truly international church where both local Malaysians and expatriates could worship together and hear the preaching of the Word of God.
In 2014, The Bridge joined Harvest Bible Chapel. At our launch of the newly-named Harvest Bible Chapel International Church of Kuala Lumpur, there were over 200 people with more than 20 countries represented including Malaysia, Korea, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Australia, Ghana, Canada, Liberia, the United States and others. All of these nations worshiping together serves as a testimony to the fact that Jesus is our peace– as it says in Ephesians 2:14–“who has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.”
