Meaningless, Meaningless, everything is Meaningless are words ever so familiar to us from the book of Ecclesiastes. It is noteworthy that the author who says that so much in life is vanity ascribes much meaning to suffering. When we are faced with adversity we often ask: Where are you God? Why Me? Is this pain real? How long oh lord? The wise teacher in this passage thematically provides answers to these question which are then further illuminated by the new treatment in light of the gospel.
