Isaiah 54 challenges readers to move from despair to an expectation of God at work. As God’s people we sing for joy because of God’s work as well as respond in faith. William Carey, a pioneer in missions, called Christians to action from this passage with the phrase: “expect great things from God, attempt great things for God.” How can we respond to God’s great work?
